Our Story is simple,
we just want to play more.

We’re a trio of dads who share a deep love for hockey. Fueled by our passion for the sport, we created this community to connect organizers and players together. Get to know our story:

In 2009, Alex moved to Canada to experience the sport synonymous with Canadian culture. With hopes of playing tons of hockey, he soon discovered the frustration of finding opportunities to play.

He thought, let's use modern technology to connect others.

Enter Ryan Samson -- Alex’s colleague, graphic designer and hockey enthusiast. Together, the idea for Hockey Community began to take shape with a simple promise: make hockey happen.

Hockey Community was born

Hockey Community finds it's first developer inside the community! Amrit Kahlon who was HC's most active goalie at the time, is now behind Hockey Community's technology.

As the community grows, key organizers joins and the product evolves but one thing remains the same: we all are on a mission to make hockey happen.

We need your help to keep Hockey Community alive.

For the past 15 years, Hockey Community has brought players together and asked very little in return. The pandemic hit us bad so we’re counting on your support to continue this journey. Every contribution helps keep the game alive. We need to secure our first 100 contributors—and without your support, we risk shutting down soon. Will you join us in keeping HC going?

Why asking for contributions now?

After 15 years of helping players connect without charging for the app, we're at a point where we can no longer sustain the platform on our own. We're asking for voluntary contributions from our community to help keep the app alive and ensure that hockey players can continue to enjoy the benefits it offers.

Is Hockey Community going to start charging for the app?

No, we want to keep the app free for everyone. The goal of asking for donations is to avoid having to charge for basic features. Your support will help us maintain and improve the platform without introducing mandatory fees.

How will my contribution be used?

Your donation will go directly towards the operational costs of the app, including server maintenance, development of new features, and ensuring the platform remains a reliable space for hockey players to connect and organize games. We are confortable sharing our cost of operational upon request or in our annual meeting.

What happens if not enough contributions are received?

Our commitment is to keep Hockey Community alive, and we want to start with a goal of 100 contributions. If we don’t reach this goal, we may have to discontinue the service entirely and reimburse the contributions. However, if we succeed, we plan to quickly improve HC, beginning with a more stable app. Your support is essential to our future, and we truly appreciate any contribution you can make!

How much should I contribute?

The amount is entirely up to you. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference. We’ve provided suggested amounts, but feel free to donate what you’re comfortable with.

Can I cancel my contribution?

No questions asked. You can cancel anytime easily.
